Chinook Salmon
Of the five species of Pacific salmon, the Chinook and Coho are the most important to anglers. The two fish are often found in the same waters throughout Oregon and Washington and pursued in much the same way, but the Chinook is the larger of the two and highly prized among anglers. When hooked, Chinook like to slug it out, while Coho are acrobatic and quick. Chinook salmon are also known as king salmon or spring salmon. Sometimes misspelled as samon or samen. Many Seaside Oregon fishing charters offer trips for Chinook on larger boats that accommodate up to 20 persons, but guide trips are a more fun and personal trip and tend to be more productive as well.

Chinook are powerful swimmers that migrate hundreds of miles up northwest rivers to their spawning grounds, and they can grow huge. The rod-and-reel world record was taken in Alaska's Kenai River in 1985 and weighed 97 pounds, 4 ounces. Most fish caught by Oregon anglers, however, range from 15 to 40 pounds. At the end of a fishing line, Chinook salmon are absolute brutes - hard-running, stubborn fighters that will give you all the challenge you can handle, and sometimes more.

This is Oregon coast fishing: Nehalem Bay, Tillamook Bay and the Columbia River near Astoria offer some of the top fishing for huge Chinook salmon as well as Coho salmon and sturgeon, sometimes misspelled as sturgon or sturgen. Oregon salmon fishing

Columbia River Fishing Guides

Let's Go Fishing Guide Service offers some of the best fishing in the nation if not the world and the same holds true for the regional Columbia River Fishing Guides as they are as skilled and knowledgeable as any of their tropical or saltwater fishing guide counterparts.

Referring to Columbia River fishing as some of the the best fishing in the world is not as bold a statement as one would think. No we aren't talking about typical sport fishing trips with all the colorful and acrobatic billfish that most "sportfishermen" think of when you mention 'sport fishing'. Instead we are talking about Columbia River sport fishing, something really special that the majority of anglers, especially anglers in the southern regions never get a chance to experience.

Columbia River fishing means Sturgeon fishing, which means you are fishing for a fish that can reach sizes likely bigger than you are and when you catch one of these magnificent marine creatures you can take home an Oregon charter fishing story none of your fishing buddies can compete with. As fun and exciting as Sturgeon fishing is though it is not the only type of fishing on the Columbia River and your local Oregon fishing guide will also offer fishing charters for the many species of salmon and a few other species in addition to some exciting Sturgeon fishing.
