Sturgeon
Sturgeon can be pursued most of the year in the
Columbia River and Willamette River near Portland Oregon. You can keep one sturgeon per day and
five in a year, providing the season is open to retention. When the Columbia
and Willamette River close to retention, they remain open year-round to
catch and release.
Prepare yourself for a battle unmatched by any
other freshwater fish. Great White Sturgeon will sometimes jump far into the
air in
powerful and magnificent leaps.

Salmon
Prime months to catch spring Chinook salmon
in our area is March through May. Summer Chinook are targeted later in June
and July and fall salmon August through October. We catch fall Chinook and
Coho salmon in the lower Columbia River, Willamette River near Portland and the Pacific ocean along the north and
central Oregon coast.

Shad

Shad fishing primarily begins in early May
on the Columbia River and Willamette River and extends through the middle of July.
This fishery provides nearly non
stop action. It's not unusual for anglers to catch upwards of 20 to 30 shad
per person per day. There is no limit on shad.

One of the most fun and rewarding family
fishing adventures available in Oregon.
Great fun for the kids!
Steelhead
Steelhead
are sometimes taken incidentally while targeting salmon. These fish will
take the same lures and baits as salmon and are abundant at various times of
year in waters I fish like the Columbia and Willamette rivers.
There are two main runs of steelhead in Oregon,
a “summer run” and a “winter” run. Some river systems like the Columbia
River and Willamette River in Portland have both types of runs while other
streams may have one or the other.
Most hatchery steelhead will weigh from 7 to 9
pounds, but with recent changes to steelhead hatchery programs throughout
Oregon many returns now contain a large portion of fish spawned directly
from wild native stock that are much larger in size, averaging 12-18 pounds.
